WHAT TO SEE AND DO

Close to Harbourside Function Centre:

Te Papa Tongarewa National Museum of New Zealand - Located a short walk from the venue. Open daily from 10am - 6pm, free entry for residents of Aotearoa and charged for international visitors

Te Waka Huia o Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho - Wellington Museum - Located on Queens Wharf, a 10 minute walk from Te Papa. Open daily from 10am - 5pm, free entry for residents of Aotearoa and charged for international visitors

Wellington Writers Walk - A picturesque walk along Wellington’s waterfront marked by 23 written tributes to the city in the form of typographical sculptures.

He Tohu - He Tohu is a permanent exhibition of 3 iconic constitutional documents that shape Aotearoa New Zealand, including Te Tiriti o Waitangi the Treaty of Waitangi, located on the ground floor of the National Library building. The exhibition is open Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, and Saturdays 9am - 1pm. 

Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand - Also home to the Alexander Turnbull Library, Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision, and City Gallery Wellington exhibitions. Opening hours vary. 

The Beehive - An iconic piece of Wellington architecture and home to the New Zealand government. You’ll see it on your way to the National Library or He Tohu.

Mt Victoria Lookout - Put your walking shoes on and head up the hill for a panoramic view of Pōneke.

Wellington Cable Car - Located on Lambton Quay and stopping at the top of the Botanic Gardens in Kelburn. Operating hours vary, cars run every ten minutes. 

The Dowse - Art museum located in Lower Hutt - requires a car, train, or bus ride around the harbour.

Satay Malaysian - Iconic Malaysian - recently ranked 10/10 for Roti Chanai by The Spinoff

Old Quarter - Street food and good vibes 

Lucky Chicken - Dirty fried goodness, operates out of a historic public toilet on Courtney Place

Loretta - A Wellington classic for any time of day

Kisa - Turkish high brow - so much more than your average kebab 

Winner Winner - More than just chicken dinner! Casual all-day eating on Courtney Place, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Sixes and Sevens - Good coffee and amazing donuts, baked goods, and sandwiches, not far from Harbourside.

Rosie’s Red Hot Cantina - Frozen slushy margs on tap

Goldings Free Dive - Craft beer bar with decorations to geek out on. Order a pizza from Pomodoro to eat while you’re there.

Puffin - Dedicated wine bar focusing on organic wines with a sleek and cosy interior. Some bigger tables.

Night Flower Punch House - Dimly-lit traditional cocktail house with a balcony overlooking Cuba Street.
